Years ago, there was a fire in the building I work in. The floor joists above us burnt, but withstood the flames. From time to time they deposit little pieces of “charcoal” on our desks, computers, drinking water. This is because there are offices above our space, and people like to walk around above us. Go figure. Still, we’ve never had quite as unique a pattern as this one.
